It all began in 2004 when one woman, Linda Grunewald, was going through a devastating divorce after many years of marriage and as a way to heal decided to place an ad in the newspaper seeking other women who wanted to meet and do fun things together. Her greatest hope was to find one or two other single gals to hang out with occasionally. So she was in utter shock when married, single, divorced and widowed women responded in droves.
Linda immediately founded the Oxford Women’s Social Club and set up a dozen various activities to do each month as a way for women to meet each other and enjoy life. Hundreds of close friendships have been formed over the years, and the group is still going strong today.
It seemed to have the secret formula for converting casual acquaintances into life-long friends.
After seven years of success with this group and because of countless requests from others asking how they could start a branch in their area, Linda decided to create a spin-off organization and take it global. And that’s exactly what took place in 2011 when she founded Women, Fun and Friendship. Now women everywhere can join in the fun and make new friends wherever they live.
